WE ALL KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS SUFFERED FROM ALZHEIMER’S!

The majority of our team agreed that they have either known, or known of someone who has suffered from Alzheimer’s/Dementia.

We have witnessed or experienced the heart-breaking changes & challenges this diagnosis presents to the loved one and their family.

As a team we collected donations from all of us Bros. We are more than happy the funds are going to this well deserving cause.

The White Family in particular will forever remember their late mother/grandmother who was diagnosed in her last couple years with them.

She moved in with the White Family of 6 kids, when she started to lose her memory and it became unsafe for her to live alone.

CEO, Mitch cherishes these years as he helped care for his grandmother, he will never forget the bond they developed over the years she was living with them.

Mitch's mom, Esther White thanks the Alzheimer’s Society tremendously for all their help with her Mom during this time and especially appreciated their “Day Away” program with her busy schedule.

Year round, The Alzheimer’s Society does so much to aid in the caregiver and the individual’s home life. Annually, they organize a fundraiser walk.

This year’s “IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s” was held last Saturday, May 29th, raising funds for urgently needed services to help people with dementia and the family members who care for them.

See the link below for more details and how you can help today. https://support.alzheimer.ca/site/SPa... A huge thank you from the entire Handy Bros.

Family to Alzheimer’s Society Chatham Kent for all you do for our community!

Ps. Stick around until the very end to see an adorable dug up keep sake from Mitch’s Mom!

BUILDING A HOME FOR FREE!

Habitat For Humanity Project Pt. 1
The Handy Bros. Heroes have teamed up with Habitat for Humanity Chatham Kent as well as multiple other contractors/donors/volunteers involved in the latest Habitat for Humanity Home!

The Handy Bros. Heroes will be donating the entire HVAC and Gas Line system needed for this home. FREE OF CHARGE. A special thanks to our suppliers for their considerable donations to this cause.

Habitat homes are built by volunteers and donors and sold to qualified families.

Habitat holds the mortgage, charges no interest and amortizes the mortgage for as many years as necessary to ensure families pay no more than 30% of their income for mortgage and taxes.

Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent does not provide free homes. The families who partner with us invest directly into their homes equity and commit 500 volunteer hours to our organization. Families purchase their home at fair market value with no down payment and pay an affordable mortgage. Families who partner with Habitat for Humanity CK, understand that a home is a long-term commitment and investment.

We are so looking forward to seeing how this project comes together. It is our pleasure to lend a helping hand to this amazing organization.

Stay tuned to see how this project unfolds! You won’t want to miss it.

SUPPORTING NEW PARENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY!

Another month in the books, that means The Handy Bros. Heroes took on another project!
This month’s initiative, we had an organization nominated to us. When we heard about the work @refuge_chatham was doing, we were more than happy to help out.

At Handy Bros. we are all about FAMILY. We know the challenges and obstacles an individual or couple who are about to become parents face. This can be a challenging new journey for those who have the means to support their family, let alone those who need a little extra help.

Refuge offers free comprehensive pregnancy support to women and families. They help with meeting the needs of baby supplies and clothing, as well as counselling and support throughout the entire pregnancy and early postpartum stage.

Thank you Refuge for all you do in our community!

NO CHILD WITHOUT A LUNCH PROGRAM!

When a student is running on an empty stomach, their minds are not fueled properly... They can't learn to their full potential. No child should have to worry about where their next snack is coming from. St. Ursula's Elementary School here in Chatham are doing it right! The staff have been working incredibly hard to make sure nutritious snack options are always readily available for ALL students. Ending the stigma that only a certain group of students need access to these programs. We couldn't have been more eager to hop on board with this project and have the Handy Bros. Heroes do what they do best, give back to our community! We loved working with the staff and students at St. Ursula's! Looking forward to hearing how they enjoyed the snacks from our contributions as the year goes on!

SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL WOMEN’S SHELTER!

The HandyBros Heroes are at it again! Today was something special. Today was all about our women in Chatham-Kent. Being a business run by women, The Nurse Next Door was all over the opportunity of giving back in this way!

2020 has been an especially tough year for women in abusive situations. They have been isolated, and having to deal with more abuse the ever. That’s why it is so important to have the Chatham-Kent Women’s Shelter, assisting those enduring tough times and working alongside them to remove them or support them through these awful circumstances. Being unable to run certain programs or receive the donations they need; we knew we had to do something for this great organization!

Thank you so much to The Nurse Next Door for teaming up with us and for another exciting day of giving in CK!

DELIVERING FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED!

Today, for our 5th Day of Giving, the HandyBros Heroes are highlighting the good that’s already being done here in our community!

Being made up of a majority of older individuals, the Knights of Columbus have been isolated and unable to give back to the community in the ways that they normally would. Although they have many active organized charity programs, Families to Families is the program we focused on today. Every Tuesday and Thursday, the Knights go out and deliver food to families in need; it’s an excellent initiative. We think its important to shine a light on those serving and giving back, any way they can.

It was inspiring to see such generosity and kindness live in action. Well done Knights of Columbus and Chatham Breakfast House! Thank you for demonstrating what it means to live CK!

HELPING SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN DEALT A BAD HAND!

Day 6 is finally here! We’re at the half-way point of the Handy Bros Heroes 12 Days of Giving project! Today we are excited to partner with Honey Electric, another great local company here in Chatham-Kent. Without hesitation, these guys jumped on board to help us out!

Charlene is a single mother and recent cancer survivor who has given so much to this community. Lately, it seems as if she has been dealt a bad hand. On top of many issues, Charlene has been living in fear in her own house due to the main breaker being weak. Often the breaker trips leaving her without hydro, sometimes spoiling food, and always causing her to worry. The Handy Bros Heroes wanted to take this stress and pressure off of her and give her the peace she deserves.

There’s times in everyone’s lives, no matter who you are, when you find yourself in a low spot, needing a helping hand. That’s just part of being human. No matter what you see, you never truly know what someone is going through. So look around, there are needs all around us. If you have the ability to help someone, do so. You could be the answer when they need it most.

FARM FRESH CHICKENS INTO THE HANDS WHO NEED IT MOST!

We were so excited to partner with our very own HandyBros Hero, Steve Blackburn. Not only is he part of our HandyBros Family, but he’s the proud owner of “Gedrrdun Acres” too. He’s a local farm boy with a heart of gold. raising chickens for years, and this year he is choosing to donate 14 of them to those in need. We were so thrilled when he came to us with this idea of giving back! Steve is a genuine, kind, and caring individual… but most of all, he’s got heart. That is what real heroes are made of!

Due to COVID, the number of those who are homeless has sky rocketed. They need our help more than ever, for those simple things we take for granted every single day. We wanted to get these chickens into the hands of those who needed it most …and thanks to ROCK Missions, that was made possible.
