Longevity
“If you’re in need of heating, cooling, or anything related to home comfort, my husband and I would highly recommend the Handy Bros.
The day after getting an estimate, 3 of their installers, George, Conner, and Ernesto, arrived early the next morning and completed all the required work in one day! We were very impressed with their skills, knowledge and efficiency. Don’t hesitate to deal with this great company! And… in case you’re wondering, we are not related to this company or any of their staff. They’re just deserving of great reviews!!”
What we did: Three-tech team. Full installation completed in a single day.

“From start to finish, we were more than pleased with and yes, exceeded what was expected from HB. Purchase/install/follow up went without a hitch, more importantly, the team continues to support the system, feeling comfortable with not only the whole package but future problems if they happen to be any…hence we signed up for yearly inspection and maintenance to protect the purchase and peace of mind.”

No single home is constructed the same, this means you need an air conditioner fitted to the size and venting configuration of your living spaces.
In 2026, there are three ways to cool your family home:
This AC unit removes humidity and heat from your home’s circulating air.
Hooking into your home’s duct work, the ac uses the blower motor and the A-Coil within the the furnace to cool your entire home. Yes, even in the summer, your furnace is used.
No ductwork? No problem! A ductless mini split heat pump is the most effective way to cool a single hot room.
The outdoor unit is paired with an indoor wall mounted blower head. Since you are using a heat pump you may also use for heating.
A hybrid heat pump works exactly like your traditional outdoor AC unit in the summer. The heat pump replaces your old style ac, but can now be used for heating in the spring/fall and winter.
With a precision and professional AC installation:
Buying a new ac should been seen as a long term solution for multiple summers. But only if you do these three things:
Make sure the company is measuring your home for the heating and cooling load. As this determines how powerful your air conditioner needs to be. Room Square Footage & window size/type.
The size and cooling power of an AC is measured in tons. 1 ton of cooling covers 500 sqft. of space. Insulation and windows also have a large impact on your home’s cooling needs.
The single most important factor is how well it is installed. If done incorrectly it shortens the lifespan of your AC unit. All air conditioners must be tested & balanced after installation. Only use proven & trusted HVAC companies

Modulating air conditioners represent the pinnacle of cooling technology, offering unparalleled comfort and efficiency. These advanced systems can adjust their output in small increments, allowing for incredibly precise temperature control with outstanding efficiency. With a modulating air conditioner from Handy Bros., you’ll experience the ‘ultimate’ in home comfort and energy savings.
Two stage air conditioners provide enhanced comfort and improved energy efficiency. These systems can operate at two different levels – full capacity for hot days and a lower capacity for milder weather. This flexibility allows for more precise temperature control and increased energy savings.
Single stage air conditioners offer reliable cooling at an affordable price point. These systems operate at full capacity whenever they’re running, providing consistent cooling throughout your home. While simpler in design, our single stage units are still built with Handy Bros.’ commitment to quality and efficiency.
A lot goes into HVAC pricing, but your home needs to be sized for cooling load and are harder to price reliably sight unseen, however you should always first get a free in-home quote before paying & installing any A/C as your size/venting/breaker/furance type will directly impact which A/C unit fits. But, if you are looking for a rough estimate, here is a common price range in Ontario:
| A/C Type | Home Size / Capacity | Typical Installed Price Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central A/C (Builder Grade 13–14 SEER) | 1.5–2 Ton (900–1500 sq ft) | $4,000 – $6,500 | Entry-level, basic efficiency |
| Central A/C (Mid Efficiency 16–17 SEER) | 2–3 Ton (1500–2200 sq ft) | $5,000 – $8,500 | Most common install |
| Central A/C (High Efficiency / Variable) | 2–4 Ton (2000–3000+ sq ft) | $7,500 – $15,000+ | Premium comfort + modulation |
| Ductless Mini-Split (Single Zone) | 1 room / small space | $4,000 – $6,500 | No ductwork needed |
| Ductless Multi-Zone | 2–5 zones | $7,000 – $15,000+ | Whole-home alternative |
| Heat Pump (Ducted) | Whole home | $8,000 – $18,000+ | Rebates can apply |
What A/C is right for you: How many people in the home? How much is the gas vs hydro bill? Are there any space constraintsaround your home?
Be very careful signing a rental A/C contract, the daily or monthly cost may seem very low, but often it is priced over a very long period making its true price 3x more expensive than buying one in full. It would be literally cheaper in the long run to use your personal credit card or line of credit to buy it in full rather than renting it forever.

Modulating air conditioners offer the most precise temperature control and comfort by adjusting output in the smallest of increments. Two-stage units have high and low settings, while single-stage systems run at full capacity when on.
Our modulating air conditioners offer the highest energy efficiency, followed by two-stage models. However, all our systems are designed with energy efficiency in mind to help reduce your cooling costs.
